This lesson looks at the issues surrounding women’s health, the importance of being able to talk about it and introduces some of the main conditions to consider. The teaching notes include a link to duplicate a survey on Microsoft Forms to ascertain understanding and appreciation of the subject before the lesson. There are various opportunities for discussion, including whether it is important for men to consider issues with women’s health, working on reducing stigma, equality and more. While it would work well as a stand-alone PHSE/Life skills lesson, it would work well with our other Women’s Health and Men’s Health bundles.

Osteoporosis - Health Issues

(0)
Osteoporosis Week comes at the beginning of June, but this could be part of PHSE at any juncture. The lesson discusses what the condition is and how it can affect the body, but also looks at preventative members and poses the question of why young people should be thinking of this/be aware now. In many ways it contributes to supporting a healthy diet and exercise regime, also highlighting the contributing factors of alcohol and smoking, eating disorders and steroid tablets. There is a quiz on Forms to introduce students to thinking about the topic and the link to duplicate is in the Teaching Notes. We want our students to go out into the world and make healthy and informed choices.
